Why I Do What I Do

I was so humbled and honored to receive this beautiful message after a reading I did for Dr. Lara Corr in Melbourne, Australia. This is why I do what I do. Thank you Lara for your kind and generous words.

Oh my goodness. Bridgette did a reading for me a few weeks ago and I am still getting chills from it. Her gentle and warm way made me feel so comfortable. I didn’t know why I particularly wanted a reading, I just did. Wow. All I can say is that I was MEANT to have that reading with Bridgette. It helped me do some really deep healing. Totally unexpected and such a blessing. Since then, I keep realising things that linked back to the reading that weren’t clear at the time. It turns out, a totally new direction for my business that I LOVE was actually in the reading! Ha! Isn’t life magical? If you are in anyway lead to have time with Bridgette, do it. She is the real deal. 150%. Blessings, Lara xx”

“Working Like A Dog” Maybe Ain’t So Bad

1443100516240-1-1I’m sure most of you have heard the expression “working like a dog” which probably conjures up the idea of someone slaving away, working long, tedious hours, feeling absolutely miserable. But have you ever actually watched a dog work? Maybe a sheep dog herding a flock? Or hounds on the chase of a scent? They are mad with excitement, going all out to accomplish their goal. They might technically be “working” but don’t tell them that. This type of work feels like play, and they can do it All. Day. Long. That is, until they completely collapse with exhaustion. That’s when the “rest” comes in; right up until they wake the next morning eager to do it all over again.

If we’re in our zone, staying present, we will only ever feel like we’re in one of these 2 states – Rest or Play. That’s why people say things like “Find something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” It doesn’t mean these people aren’t exerting incredible effort. It just means they are enjoying it. And just as important as feeling joy from your daily actions, is honoring your body when it tells you its had enough. This rest is essential. Without it, we wouldn’t be in any state to find joy.

So the next time you’re around a sheep dog, or a 2 year old for that matter, take some pointers because they get it. Play hard. Crash hard. Repeat.

Breastfeeding Bliss

BB projectIn the fog of early motherhood, I’m a little embarrassed to say how easy it was for me to get caught up checking my phone or watching some mindless tv while breastfeeding my son. It got to the point when he’d be finished feeding and I wouldn’t even realize it because I was engrossed in the latest FB feed.  At some point I remember having a real moment when I didn’t have any electronics around and instead just watched my son with my full attention while he was nursing.  It was magic. Pure magic. The way his hands moved.  The sweet sounds he would make. Watching his mouth move in perfect rhythm with each gulp. I grew more in love in that moment than I thought possible. It was pure bliss watching this miracle in my arms as I gave my precious baby every single thing he needed to thrive. I felt powerful and strong, with love overflowing…along with my milk, which came in stronger than ever.

From that moment, a little seed was planted within me.  I knew that I did not want to take this special time for granted any more. And I started thinking there are probably many women just like me who might be missing these precious moments in a similar sleep-deprived, overly stimulated state. That’s why, in honor of National Breastfeeding Month, I decided to create some tools to make it easier to keep this “Breastfeeding Bliss” alive and well. The health and emotional benefits for mama and baby are just too priceless to miss.

I have several tools – videos, apps, cards – that are in progress for all mamas, whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or simply feeding your baby the best way that you can. I am so passionate about this! I wish they were already finished. But I am a blissed-out mother of 2 small kiddos after all, so please be patient as I savor this super special time with them. I’ll squeeze in these important projects as quickly as I can. It’ll be worth the wait!

Sign up for my Soul-Hive newsletter to be the first to know once they’re finished, and to get some cool freebies.
